I first tried Alpha BRAIN, a cognitive enhancing supplement by Onnit, about 3 years ago. I heard about Alpha Brain when CEO of Onnit, Aubrey Marcus mentioned it on his podcast, and then heard it commonly mentioned on Onnit co-founder, Joe Rogan's podcast.
Alpha Brain, as described on Onnit’s website, is a nootropic designed to improve brain function and is clinically studied to help healthy individuals support their memory, focus, and processing speed.
"Alpha BRAIN may help you remember names and places, focus on complex tasks, and improve your mental speed in response to stimuli. Whether it is a work project, a social gathering, or an athletic performance, taking Alpha BRAIN is like another gear for your brain." - ONNIT.com
Alpha Brain was particularly attractive to me because prior to trying it, I felt like my focus, and especially my memory, were functioning at a sub-optimal rate. I would commonly forget small tasks or wasn't able to retain information as I'd like to. This affected me in my personal and professional life, and I saw Alpha Brain as an opportunity to help fix that.
In all fairness, this could have been a negative thought pattern that I created for myself, in which my worrying about forgetting, or inherently believing that I would forget, resulted in me actually forgetting.
This issue, no matter how hard I would combat it with meditation or additional effort, because more frustrating with each major or minor task that slipped my brain.
I literally thought early-stage Alzheimers was a real possibility, but didn't think it was serious enough to seek medical help. However, after reading some positive testimonials on Onnit's webiste, I thought I'd give Alpha Brain a try to see how it worked for me.

During my first purchase of Alpha Brain, I don't think I realized it's full potential. I may have set my bar too high and expected something along the lines of the Limitless pill from the 2011 film with Bradley Cooper, but I felt I was only scratching the surface.
At the time, I was at home in Massachusetts applying for jobs in California and doing standup comedy. There were times were I noticed a boost in my writing abilities and stage presence, but it wasn't an obvious impact and I held off on a second purchase.
It wasn't until last year that I began using Alpha Brain more regularly. I used it at my sales job, before the gym, and to launch the blog you're currently reading.
Truthfully, I think the effects of Alpha Brain are subtle. Unlike coffee, Alpha Brain is stimulant-free and works by stimulating your neurotransmitters rather than your adrenal glands. This also means no crash, just clarity.
However, there are plenty of days that I use Alpha Brain and coffee together when I really want to get something done.
On days that I took Alpha Brain at my job, where I essentially made cold calls all day and worked out of Salesforce, I felt more engaged in my work. I felt that I was able to focus more on my calls and have better more conversations where my words came out more clearly. It also allowed me to find new strategic and time efficient ways to manage my admin work.
On days that I took Alpha Brain before the gym, I occasionally get into the zone a little easier and really get into my workout. I would concentrate more deeply on my lifts and execute each movement for maximum gains in my muscles.
On any given day, I will use Alpha Brain to help me focus on my writing. I feel that it helps me find the words I'm looking for more easily, and it helps in my creative process as well.
As Joe Rogan is quoted on the Onnit website, "it feels like finding another gear for your brain", and when your brain is running more efficiently it yields better results.
I was a little deterred by the price at first, but asked myself "what price can you put on improving your brain?" And when Aubrey Marcus says that Onnit doesn't cut corners or put cheap fillers in their products, I believe him, and it helped me justify the price.
For me, not only do I get a good boost in memory and focus shortly after taking the capsule form, or immediately after taking the powder form via Alpha Brain Instant, I feel as though there are residual positive effects days and weeks later.
It's like my brain knows what optimal performance feels like and it has paved the neuro pathways to access improved performance with or without Alpha Brain. And as such, I feel more confident in my regular ability to recall information and focus on the tasks at hand.
The best part about Onnit and their products is their Keep-It Guarantee. If you find that you don't like any of their supplements, you can keep it. Notify the Onnit team, telling them why it wasn't a fit for you, and they'll get you a refund right there on the spot - no return necessary.
So I guess the real question is, what would you do with improved mental performance?
Alpha Brain is one of my favorite supplements and made by one of my favorite brands. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their memory and focus. Although it is not quite the Limitless pill yet, and the price point can be restrictive to some people, I trust this brand and really enjoy their products.
I give Alpha Brain by Onnit 4 out of 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️★
