Ritual Energy - 100mg Natural Caffeine Snack Bars - Review

While working at a rock climbing gym last summer, I was exposed to a wide variety of healthy snack and alternative energy options that were popular among the climbing community. One of my favorites was Ritual Energy Peaut & Chocolate Snack Bars.

These bite-sized 70 calorie snack bars contain 100mg caffeine and are a delicious, portable, and easily consumable alternative to your typical cup of coffee.

Not only is it one of the freshest, best-tasting snacks at the gym, but the ingredients are simple and natural. Each bar is gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian. They do use milk chocolate and honey though, so just a heads up for any curious vegans.

What I like about these energy bars, is I can get my caffeine fix before a climb, hike, yoga session, or workout, and it doesn't require me to have any additional liquids in my system from my usual coffee or pre-workout drink. I can get my caffeine boost from the bars and then focus on hydrating.

About the company

Ritual Energy is a small San Diego-based company that was founded by an on-the-go UCSD graduate who was also in search of more portable, nutritional sources of caffeine, and introduced the first Ritual snack in 2016.

Ritual Energy focuses on being environmentally conscious too. They source biodegradable and sustainable materials where possible, re-purpose shipping materials, and deliver their snacks in packaging you can use mutiple times.

My Review

I thought the waterproof packaging was a bit tough to open and I wish they were a little bit bigger so I can enjoy them longer. They are fairly common in gyms, cafes, and stores around San Diego but outside of that you'll likely need to buy them online as they continue to expand, and the intro size retails fro $2 per unit, before shipping.

However, these 100 mg caffeine snack bars are so good, I would recommend them on taste alone and the fact that it is made with all-natural ingredients is a huge plus in my books and having a portable, non-liquid, caffeine alternative makes this a versatile pre-workout or on-the-go snack.
